Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

The short version

Juris uses only two categories of cookies: (1) essential session cookies required to keep you logged in, and (2) self-hosted Umami analytics — no data leaves our EU servers. We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. We do not share cookie data with Meta, Google Analytics, or any advertising network.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in or your preferences — so you do not have to re-enter them every time.

Cookies can be "first-party" (set by Juris) or "third-party" (set by external services). They can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" (remain until they expire or you delete them).

2. Cookies We Use

Essential cookies (required for the platform to function)

Cookie NamePurposeDurationThird Party?
better-auth.session_tokenAuthenticates your session. Without this cookie, you cannot remain logged in to Juris.7 daysNo
__Secure-better-auth.session_tokenSecure variant of the session token (used on HTTPS connections). Same purpose as above.7 daysNo
juris-onboarding-doneRecords whether you have completed the mandatory onboarding consent flow, so you are not redirected to it on every visit.1 yearNo

Analytics (self-hosted — no third-party data sharing)

We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we host on our own EU servers at umami.kwatateam.com. Unlike Google Analytics, Umami does not set persistent cross-site tracking cookies.

Umami uses a single, session-scoped, anonymous identifier to count unique page views within a single browsing session. This identifier is not persisted after your session ends, cannot identify you across sessions, and no data is transmitted to any third-party company.

Cookie NamePurposeDurationThird Party?
umami.uuid (localStorage)An anonymous, randomly generated ID used by Umami to distinguish page views within a single session. Stored in browser localStorage, not a cookie. Contains no personal information.SessionNo — EU-hosted

3. Cookies We Do NOT Use

Juris does not use and will never use:

  • Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel or any Meta tracking
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag
  • HubSpot, Intercom, Drift, or similar third-party chat/CRM tracking cookies
  • Advertising or retargeting cookies of any kind
  • Cross-site tracking cookies

This is a deliberate product decision. Legal professionals have heightened expectations of confidentiality. We will not undermine that by embedding third-party surveillance infrastructure in a platform you use to manage privileged client matters.

4. Managing Cookies

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • ·View all cookies currently stored.
  • ·Delete individual cookies or all cookies.
  • ·Block cookies from specific websites.
  • ·Block all third-party cookies.

Note that disabling essential cookies (the session token) will prevent you from staying logged in to Juris. If you delete your session cookie, you will need to log in again.

You can find instructions for managing cookies in your browser at:

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use. We will notify active users of material changes by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
